Bible Study Primer: The Christian Bible
Hey Y'all, I'm making preparations for my new thing (Bible Study Studio)! So, I though I would get started with some Bible Study Basics, but I'm calling it Bible Study Primer, for now.
I'm excited to see where the Good Lord will take this.
According to Dr. Scot McKendrick, The term “bible” is derived from the Greek word βιβλία (books), which is based on the Greek word for papyrus (βύβλος or βίβλος). (papyrus: or paper which was the material from which books were made during biblical times). Both papyrus and paper are made from tree bark.
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matthew 1:1. KJV
The Christian Bible is a book made up of many books, incorporating the Jewish bible, known as the Hebrew Bible: (Tanakh) or Pentateuch which is the collection of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible: (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.)
The Hebrew Bible is referred to by Christians as the Old Testament (derived from the Latin word testamentum, in the sense of divisions or covenants). The Christian Bible also includes a smaller collection of Christian texts, known as its second section, the New Testament.
