The Theology and Doctrine of Prayer
Y'all! It seams as if I am using the word THEOLOGY in all my self and spoken out loud conversations these days! I also literally adopted the figure of speech: Thought and Theory, from my friend Anyta.
This morning I'm sitting here rereading one of my most favorite books: The Doctrine of Prayer by T.W. Hunt. I've read this book by TW, so many times, I can not begin to tell you! I actually have two copies, of which, I will willingly share but never lose site of in the sharing. My friend Anne shares a similar relationship with a Precant. For years many years I've wanted to identify myself on my business cards as a Precant, but knowing many folks would likely not immediately understand, I've chosen to simply not use the identity which really defines me best. Anyway, I know from reading TW's works that he was a willing and ready Precant and much of his THEOLOGY, I've willingly adopted over the last twenty-five years through his teaching (doctrine) and maybe this is the reason teachers and preachers are held more accountable.
Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. James 3:1 NASB 1995
It's also interesting to note the Book of Hebrews states:
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, Hebrews 5:12 ESV
It's kinda sad, the key word Precant is more or less no longer in use, thus the reason to now use more relatable words and do it all over again for by this time we ought to be teachers.
