Rebuilding Biblical Foundations in 2020: A Year Long Study of Genesis 1 - Day 4 Week 5/53 : EARTH

Today, we are focusing our efforts on the Greek language of the Key Word Earth, which use occurs two time in two verses of The Holy Word of God! These occurrences are found in the books of Corinthians and the second book of Timothy. Today we are focusing on the occurrence found in the book of Timothy being second Timothy two twenty. Let's thankfully look at several translations of this verse, starting with the KJV.

earth
ὀστράκινος

This particular Key Word occurs 2 times in 2 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2Co 4:7

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 2Ti 2:20

KJV
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

NIV
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.

 MSG
In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets—some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage. Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.

NLT

In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use.

CSB
Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also those of wood and clay; some for honorable[a] use and some for dishonorable.[b]
