The Great Fifty Days: The Prophecy of Pentecost
The seven-week period after the commemoration (Resurrection Sunday) of our risen Lord Jesus is known as the Great Fifty Days! During this time, the church celebrates the risen Jesus and his post-resurrection appearances and teachings, his ascension into heaven, and the disciples anticipation of the coming of the Holy Spirit on PENTECOST.
The key word PENTECOST means the fiftieth day in Greek and is also the second of the three great Jewish feasts. The key word Pentecost is used twice in the Book of Acts and once in 1 Corinthians.
The resurrected Jesus instructed his disciples to WAIT in Jerusalem to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, which some scholars say is The Prophecy of Pentecost from the Book of Joel.
